# Wait, did you already do a feed?

It's 3am, you've got a baby in one arm, and you can't remember if that bottle was an hour ago or three. The one person who'd know is asleep and has earned it.

Baby Brain answers it in one look. It's free on one phone, for as long as you want it, and encrypted so thoroughly that I couldn't read a word of your log if you asked me to.

[Start free, no sign-up](https://app.usebabybrain.app/) [Share it with your partner's phone](https://usebabybrain.app/buy)

Works in the browser on any current iPhone or Android. Nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.

## What it does

- **One tap for a nappy.** Wet, dirty, both. Big buttons, because it's dark and you've got one thumb.
- **Feeds and naps run a timer.** It asks for the ml at the end, not the beginning. Forgot to stop it? Change the time. Nothing tuts at you.
- **No signal, no problem.** Saves to your phone first, catches up later. Basement wards, planes, the bit of the A9 where nothing has ever worked.
- **Nothing in it wants anything from you.** No ads, no streaks, no notifications you didn't start yourself, and nothing that will ever tell you your baby is behind.

Open it and you'll land in a made-up week, so you can see the shape of the thing. One tap clears it and starts yours.

## Only your phones can read it

Feeds, weight, medicine, sleep: your baby's log is a health record about someone who'll be around for the next eighty years. Most trackers keep it in a form they can read. Nobody's being a villain there, it's just how storing things in the cloud works.

I've no interest in reading yours, but a promise from me won't outlast the app, and a company can be sold. So I built Baby Brain to have nothing to read in the first place. On one phone your log never leaves it, and once a second phone joins, all that travels between them is scrambled noise.

## Watch your entry get encrypted

This is running in your browser, right now, with the same code the app uses. Change the entry and watch it again.

*On the web page, a live demo here encrypts an entry in your browser with the app's own code and shows the ciphertext the relay would receive.*

The key came from `a sync code made on this page`, which never left your browser and never reaches me. On one phone not even the right-hand column leaves; add a second and that column is the whole of what I ever hold. ## The other phone is the whole business model

One phone is free because it costs me nothing. Your entries never leave it. The moment you want the same log on your partner's phone, something of mine has to carry it between you, and that's the part with a bill attached.

**So that's the only thing I sell. £2 adds every other phone in the house**, once, for as long as you want them: both phones, a tablet, and a new handset when you drop yours down the loo.

Not a subscription. Your baby grows out of nappy logs, and you shouldn't still be paying by the time they do.

## What you can log

Nappies. Bottles in ml. Breastfeeds, timed, with the side. Sleep, medicine, weight, temperature, milestones. All metric, so there's nothing to convert at 4am.

And once they're on solids, every meal, with what went in it. The foods you've tried before come back as you type, so nobody spells butternut squash one-handed over a high chair.

It's a log, not advice. No percentiles, no red flags, no sleep-training plan you didn't ask for. One tap in settings downloads the lot as a file you keep.

One baby at a time. Twins are out, and so is a toddler you're still logging beside a newborn. Better you hear it here than three weeks in.

## The questions I get asked

### What's the catch with the free bit?

There isn't one. One phone costs me nothing to run, so I don't charge for it, and there's no tier of it I've made deliberately annoying. What I can't do for free is carry your log to a second phone.

### How's this different from Huckleberry?

Huckleberry costs more every month than this costs ever, and earns it from people who want sleep predictions. Baby Brain has no opinions about sleep and can't read a word of what you log. [See where each tracker beats this one](https://usebabybrain.app/compare)

### Is it in the App Store?

No. Open it in Safari or Chrome and add it to your home screen. Nothing to update, nothing to sign into. [Get it on your home screen in a minute](https://usebabybrain.app/setup#first-phone)

### What if I lose my phone?

If you've paid, your other phones hold the whole history and can show you the code again. If you're on one phone, your log lives there and nowhere else, so export it now and then. [How to keep your log safe](https://usebabybrain.app/setup#lost-phone)

### I've got twins. Can I log two babies?

No, and I'm not planning to fix it. A second baby later is fine: export the old log, clear it, start again.

### What if you stop running it?

The log lives on your phones, not my server, so it stays exactly where it is. If I ever shut the relay down you get 30 days' notice and syncing is the only thing that stops. [What I promise if I ever stop](https://usebabybrain.app/terms#what-to-expect)

## Who made this

I built it for the two of us, when every other option wanted an account, a subscription and a good look at our data. It's named after the condition that made us need it.

Made in Edinburgh by Allan Corbett, one person with a small child and an extremely complete nappy log. Email me and you'll get a reply from me: [allan@corbett.fyi](mailto:allan@corbett.fyi). More of my stuff is at [superallan.com](https://superallan.com/).
